By C.D. Wright
An to the Cancer Journals: My Eye Fell into the Soup, The Cancer is a collection of two experimental novels by acclaimed writer C.D. Wright. The book explores themes of illness, mortality, and the search for meaning in the face of adversity.
The first novel, My Eye Fell into the Soup, is a fragmented and poetic account of Wright's experience with breast cancer. The novel is written in a stream-of-consciousness style, and it captures the raw emotions and experiences of living with a life-threatening illness.
The second novel, The Cancer, is a more abstract and philosophical work that explores the nature of cancer and its impact on the human body and mind. The novel is written in a collage-like style, and it incorporates elements of autobiography, fiction, and poetry.
Together, the two novels in An to the Cancer Journals offer a unique and powerful exploration of the experience of cancer. Wright's writing is honest, unflinching, and ultimately hopeful. She offers a glimpse into the darkness of cancer, but she also shows us the light that can be found in the midst of adversity.
